Ski-Group Turnover

The guest turnover from December to April does not let up. A family weekend and a ski-group rental are different jobs. I stage for who is coming. Four pairs of skis by the door means I check the binding area for wax and dirt. A family with kids means I look under the beds for the mittens that got shoved there. I do not use the same setup for both.

The Mud Room That Never Dries

Boots. Skis. Snow that melts on the mat and refreezes by morning. I know this room. I extract the water. I do not just wipe. One pass pushes meltwater into the subfloor. I go two passes, sometimes three if the mat is saturated.

Fireplace Ash
